It’s hard to remember the basics in life in this fast paced world. I like to think of the body as a fine tuned machine, equipped with methods of communication to inform you when something’s wrong. For the sake of humor, let’s compare your body to your vehicle.

You intend for your car to carry you down many roads to come; you listen to its cries. If your car started making a horrible rustling sound under the hood, would you turn up your radio to solve this problem? You don’t like that sound! So just drown it out. Was this a good solution? Perhaps for that very moment, but the problem still remains and your car will continue to tell you about it. Now, let’s say that “rustling sound” was actually a skin irritation on your arms and face. “Where did this come from? “—You sigh. Sadly most of us, instead of asking ourselves what it is our body is trying to tell us, turn to a quick fix. (No, not loud music!) The fix: prescription cream for “psoriasis.” The cream is wonderful and you’re glad to have it. The only problem is you must continue to use the cream to get through. What’s in that cream? Can you pronounce the ingredients? Are they natural, chemical? We live in the here and now and rarely take the time to ask ourselves:” What’s my body trying to tell me?”

Just as our car needs good fuel and proper care, we require quality nutrition, rest, and thoughtful care. Toxins in your body are like sugar in your gas tank. Take the time you deserve to take care of yourself. What’s your response to your symptoms? Turning up the music is a way to manage the audible issue, but not the cure to the weakening belt. Lathering on the chemical cream is a response to manage the obvious symptom, but not a way to get the toxins out of your blood stream.
